Week 6 Buy Low Sell High

smitty staff

Below are some Buy Lows and Sell Highs heading into Week 6. If you are in need of some wins, considers selling high on a few players even if they might still continue their solid play.

Sell High

DeMarco Murray (RB/TEN) – As I said above, selling high doesn’t mean you predict bust, the player still might play well all season. But, when values are increased, sometimes you can make moves you normally cannot make. Murray was a 4th rounder in some cases, and given he is the No. 1 RB in fantasy football through 5 weeks, it’s time to consider selling high. I just got Odell Beckham in one league using the guy. Now, an argument can be made that Murray is worth ODB, but if I’m being honest with myself and ranking players for just Weeks 6-16, Murray is in the second-round. I have him high in the second, he is playing amazing football, but ODB (in a PPR) is in my top 5-7 overall still.

TY Hilton (WR/IND) – I love the guy, but he will have big games and bad games, sometimes that isn’t something a team needing wins can afford. Consider selling high and buy a struggling WR or RB.

Melvin Gordon (RB/SD) – Again, do not sell thinking he will fail moving forward, he is a beast and was a Bold Prediction of mine, so I believe in him moving forward, but his value is high despite his fumbles… he could potentially get you a struggling DeAndre Hopkins or Odell Beckham if you are in need of a WR. That is a huge sell high and great move (either WR).

Buy Low

Odell Beckham (WR/NYG) – The guy is a top 5WR, maybe even top 2-3, yet everyone is willing to give up on him after five weeks. He only has 1TD this year, but it came last week, and his breakout is on the way, just like Amari Cooper’s was entering Week 5. Buy low and get him at low first or high second round value, that’s how low his value seems to be!

DeAndre Hopkins (WR/HOU) – Like ODB above, it’s amazing to see people undervalue a top 2-4WR after just five weeks. And, in his case, he has had two big-time games to go with some bad weeks, unlike ODB. Buy low, it’s madness to see him being ranked outside the top 10-12 overall, and I’ve seen this in serval cases in forum topics.

Lamar Miller (RB/HOU) – While there is a chance that Miller never gets the touches, his lowered value right now kind of builds in that risk. He has top 5RB upside moving forward, but is valued more in the 6-10 range for RBs. He’s worth the risk of getting at that 7-10RB value.

Week 6 Waiver Wire

Below are the top Adds for Week 6 of the 2016 fantasy season. Obviously, make sure Jordan Howard isn’t still available, as he would be atop this list if he was. He was our top pickup recommend last week.

Jacquizz Rodgers (RB/TB)

After a huge Week 5, rushing for over 100 yards, Quizz is a must-add. It’s tough to say what is in store for Doug Martin and his return, but if he misses more time, Quizz is now the main man in TB.

Chris Hogan (WR/NE)

After pulling in 114 yards in Week 5, it’s safe to say his preseason hype was legit. Tom Brady makes him gold. Hogan has high-end fantasy WR3-type value moving forward.

Sammie Coates (WR/PIT)

He pulled in 139 yards and 1TD in Week 5. He should be owned as a bye week WR in all formats and has more upside than that if the team keeps feeding him targets.

Jeremy Kerley (WR/SF)

His last two games: 6/88/1TD and 8/102/1TD. He is looking like a solid WR3 in larger leagues moving forward.

Cameron Meredith (WR/CHI)

He pulled in 130 yards and 1TD in Week 5.

Week 6 Live News Wire (updated all morning)

smitty staff

Below is our running Sunday morning live Week 6 Breaking News Wire. Check back all morning long, and good luck in Week 6!

NEWS: According to Rotoworld, The Florida Times Union’s Hays Carlyon predicts that Jags RB Denard “Shoelace” Robinson will out-touch Toby Gerhart in Week 6.

FANTASY: Robinson is a strong add/play this week if you need a RB or flex.

NEWS: Vikings WR Charles Johnson (ribs) is inactive for Week 6 against the Chiefs.

FANTASY: Mike Wallace should get more looks in this one.

NEWS: Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (neck) is active for Week 6 against the Browns.

FANTASY: The winds are expect to be over 15 miles per hour with stronger gusts in this one, just so you all know.

NEWS: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Andrew Luck (shoulder, questionable) is expected to play in Week 6 against Patriots.

FANTASY: This is expect, but we wanted to confirm that everthing is on track. TY Hilton and Moncrief have both been great buy-lows heading into this week.

NEWS: Redskins RB Matt Jones (toe) is not expected to play Week 6 against the Jets.

FANTASY: Good news for Alfred Morris owners, as he should get 15 plus carries this week. .

NEWS: According to reports, Ravens WR Steve Smith Sr. (questionable, back) is expected to play Sunday against SF.

FANTASY: He is a risky play, but would be tough to sit as even a flex this week. If he goes, and confirm with us up until kickoff, he is a recommended play.

NEWS: Lions RB Theo Riddick (groin) is active for Week 6 against the Bears; Joique Bell is inactive.

FANTASY: This was suppose to be the other way around, but either way, we expect a solid game out of Ameer Abdullah, and Riddick has solid PPR value.

NEWS: Jags RB T.J. Yeldon (groin) will be inactive for Week 6 against Houston.

FANTASY: Toby Gerhart will get the start with Denard Robinson splitting some work.

NEWS: Bills WR Sammy Watkins will play Week 6.

FANTASY: While he is tough to trust as anything more than a WR3 this week, it’s glad to see him going.

NEWS: Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (questionable, hamstring) does not look limited in pre-game warmups.

FANTASY: We will finally see Jeffery play. He could be rusty in this one, but he was a great buy-low heading into Weeks 6 on, as people are forgetting he has fantasy WR1 ability.

NEWS: Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is expected to play roughly 50 percent of the snaps in Week 6.

FANTASY: There have been conflicting reports on his playing time, some reports suggesting he won’t be too limited, then reports like this. But, this the most recent report, so plan as if the runner might share half the carries in Week 6.

NEWS: Patriots RB Dion Lewis (questionable, abdomen) is expected to play in Week 6 on Sunday night.

FANTASY: He is a very strong flex-play and even a solid low-end RB2. It’s tough to trust him for the long-term, in New England, but his fantasy value keeps increasing.

NEWS: ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher is predicting that Chiefs RB Knile Davis could get the majority of red-zone carries in Week 6.

FANTASY: Charcandrick West is said to be the starter in KC with Jamaal Charles out for the season with a torn ACL. However, we are still scratching our heads as to why, as Davis proved last year that he can play elite football when given touches. Don’t leave Davis on waivers, he still remains a huge secret weapon for those crafty enough not to have knee-jerk reactions to West’s questionable elevation. Both should be owned, and if getting starter carries, we like West. It is what it is, and whomever is getting starter touches will produce, but we just hope Davis gets his shot, because he can likely produce top 5-10RB numbers per start.

NEWS: ESPN Lions reporter Michael Rothstein is predicting a potential breakout game for Ameer Abdullah in Week 6.

FANTASY: Theo Riddick (groin) isn’t likely to play, so that means a huge uptick in receiving duties are headed Abdullah’s way. He has been disappointing thus far, but keep in mind that when we predicted big things for him in 2015, we cautioned that a slow start could be possible. Only 5 Weeks have gone by! At some point, if given starter carries during an entire game, he should show his brilliance. He is a tremendous athlete, but he has to hold onto the football. Do not drop him, and despite the risk in counting on him before he proves himself, he is a sneaky-good flex-play in larger leagues.

NEWS: Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Week 6.

FANTASY: Get him out of lineups. Chris Thompson, despite being a RB, could be a very sneaky play this week given the team will need him even more than usual in the passing game.

SUNDAY NEWS: Live Feed All Day Long (Week 6)

This Week 6 Sunday News topic will be updated all Sunday long!!!

Sign-Up For Smart Alerts if you haven’t already!

News: 10/12 According to a few lingering reports, Carson Palmer starting Week 6 isn’t yet a lock, although many sources suggest Palmer is starting.
Take: Just know he is a risky play at this point and use another option if for any reason your considering going Palmer in this one.

News: 10/12 Terrance West is inactive for Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Steelers.
Take: Ben Tate is a fine play this week, and Crowell is the clear No. 2 in CLE right now.

News: 10/12 Fred Jackson (ankle) is active for Week 6 against the Patriots.
Take: He has flex upside. Hopefully CJ Spiller gets on his horse this week!

News: 10/12 A.J. Green (toe) is inactive for Week 6 against the Panthers.
Take: Mohamed Sanu has fantasy WR2 appeal in this kind of role; Marvin Jones is inactive.

News: 10/12 Bishop Sankey will start at running back for the Titans in Week 6; Shonn Greene is inactive.
Take: This is as expected, and Bishop Sankey is a super-sleeper start this week.

News: 10/12 Charlie Whitehurst will start at QB in Week 6.
Take: No surprise, and unless you play in 2QB leagues, this news isn’t going to help you.

News: 10/12 Johnathan Stewart is inactive for Week 6.
Take: Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya will take on the workload in Week 6.

News: 10/12 Storm Johnson will start for the Jaguars in Week 6 at TEN.
Take: While there is always risk in these kinds of plays, we really like Johnson this week and have been talking him up as much as we can. Again, know the risks in case you’re considering benching a bigger name for him, but if in need at the RB position, he is a fantastic high-risk/high-reward play.

News: 10/12 The Packers have declared WR Jarrett Boykin inactive for Week 6 against the Dolphins.
Take: Davante Adams will get a healthy dose of targets yet again.

News: 10/12 Reggie Bush, Calvin Johnson, Joseph Fauria are all inactive for Week 6 against the Vikings.
Take: Joique Bell and Golden Tate are going to be leaned on in this one!

News: 10/12 Montee Ball and Cody Latimer are inactive against the Jets in Week 6.
Take: Ronnie Hillman will start in this one, but C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson could both see touches, as DEN is known for entertaining the ‘hot hand’ approach in these cloudy running back situations.

News: 10/12 Marqise Lee and Cecil Shorts are both active for Week 6 against the Titans.
Take: Neither have huge upside unless in larger leagues. Allen Hurns doesn’t look like he’s starting in this one, but he still could have a nice outing in very deep leagues given the coverages he could face.

News: 10/12 Adam Caplan just tweeted this about Jaguars RB Storm Johnson: “Team [JAC] wanted to move him up weeks ago behind Gerhart, but he was dealing with a lingering ankle injury.”
Take: A storm might be headed our way in Week 6, as the runner is one of our risky, yet high-upside, starts of the week.

News: 10/12 Tom Brady (ankle) will start Week 6 at BUF.
Take: There was some concern about Brady in this one, as it seemed to be big news that he made the flight with the team, but all systems are go for Brady. He still has starter potential in all formats, but of course that could depend on who you have as your other fantasy passer.

News: 10/12 Jordan Reed (hamstring) is active for Week 6 against AZ.
Take: How many snaps he will get is very much up in the air, which makes him a high-risk/high-reward play this week. Niles Paul is still in the picture, too.

News: 10/12 Reggie Bush to miss Week 6.
Take: No surprise here, and with Calvin Johnson out, the team will lean on both Golden Tate and Joique Bell, who is one of our sneaky RB2 starts of the week.

News: 10/12 Both Vincent Jackson (ribs) and Mike Evans (groin) are expected to start Week 6.
Take: Stay close to this one in case either suffers a setback. Our Smart Alerts will have you covered!

News: 10/12 Derek Carr will start Week 6.
Take: This is solid news for that Oakland offense, although, the passer is only starter material in 2QB leagues.

News: 10/12 Carson Palmer will start Week 6.
Take: This is great news for that Cardinals offense. While much depends on how effective Palmer can be, it could bump Michael Floyd back into fantasy WR2 territory. With Palmer under center, Ellington should have less defensive attention, too.

News: 10/12 Shonn Greene to sit Week 6.
Take: No surprise here, and Bishop Sankey remains one of your sneaky starts of the week.

News: 10/12 Jimmy Graham could miss 2-3 weeks following the Saints Week 6 bye?
Take: This is horrible news for Jimmy Graham and Drew Brees owners. We will keep you updated as more unfolds next week.

News: 10/12 Giants.com is predicting that Andre Williams will get 20-25 carries this week and get over the 100-yard mark.
Take: We agree, as he is a fantastic start this week. While anything can happen, especially if the Eagles got up big in a hurry, but 100 rushing yards and a strong shot at a score sounds about right for A-Will in this one.

News: 10/12 Vernon Davis (back) is questionable for Week 6, and according to numerous reports, the tight end isn’t sure if he will be able to play on Monday night against the Rams.
Take: After feeling like he was going to play earlier in the week, this situation is getting cloudy. Start preparing as if he won’t play, but stay tuned to our news wire and Smart Alerts on this one.

News: 10/12 Tom Brady (questionable) traveled with the team to Buffalo; he is dealing with an ankle injury.
Take: Stay tuned to our news wire and Smart Alerts on this one.

More Start Bench, Trade, Waiver Wire help to come!

NEWS: Bishop Sankey to be the lead back in Week 6; Joique Bell, Branden Oliver & Storm Johnson are sneaky plays.

SMITTY: ESPN is reporting that Bishop Sankey will likely lead the team in touches this week with Greene out. We agree, and he is one of our sneaky starts of the week, as most that own him have been putting him on the bench due to lack of touches. There is always risk with these kinds of plays, but Sankeky, Joique Bell, Branden Oliver and Storm Johnson all look like those sneaky-type starts this week. Looking for Week 6 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Week 6 Injury Roundup :: AJ Green, Joique Bell, Storm Johnson, Bishop Sankey, Teddy Bridgewater and more.

Hey Starters Nation:

Due to all the news rolling through news wires today, we decided to put together a single post to cover all that is currently going on.

News: 10/9/14 – Andre Johnson (ankle) is active for Week 6 against the Colts.
Take: Arian Foster (hamstring) is a go and set for RB1-type play this week. Hopefully AJ can bounce-back this week, as he has yet to play like his old self. DeAndre Hopkins should have a nice outing in this one, and you gotta expect huge numbers out of Andrew Luck and that Colts offense (including Dwayne Allen). If Houston can keep it close right out of the gate, Foster and the Texans could surprise. Good luck to all with players playing in this one!

News: 10/9/14 – AJ Green (toe) is not expected to play in Week 6 against the Panthers.
Take: This is expected. We love Gio Bernard this week, and have since January. He has been, and remains, one of our biggest breakouts this year, and he is very undervalued coming off last week’s mediocre outing, so buy-low if you can! Mohamed Sanu will see a huge uptick in targets, so he is a great add if available in your league!

News: 10/9/14 – Joique Bell (concussion) is practicing in full today, and unless he suffers a setback, the runner is scheduled to be DET’s lead back in Week 6.
Take: Could we finally be on the verge of the “Joique Bell Show”? Even if Calvin Johnson plays, the Lions will likely lean on Bell, as Reggie Bush is not scheduled to play (as of now). Bell, if getting starter carries, has high-end RB2-type value in Week 6.

News: 10/9/14 – Toby Gerhart (ankle) was downgraded to “DNP” during Thursday’s practice.
Take: While anything can happen with players at this level (iffy plays), we really like Storm Johnson and we hope the Jags let him loose this week!

News: 10/9/14 – Shonn Greene (hamstring) was downgraded to “DNP” today and remains “uncertain” for Week 6.
Take: Great news for Bishop Sankey owners. See if Sankey is available in your league, he is a sneaky flex-play this week, but there is some risk, so know that. Coaching, play calling, it can all turn these kinds of situations south in a hurry, but he has nice appeal if in need at the RB position.

News: 10/9/14 – Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) and Matt Asiata (groin) are both practicing in full.
Take: Good news for those counting on either/both for Week 6. Smart Alerts will have you covered in case anything changes up until kickoff.

News: 10/9/14 – Vernon Davis (back) returned to practice on Thursday.
Take: He is day to day, but on track to possibly start Week 6. Smart Alerts will have you covered in case anything changes up until kickoff.

News: 10/9/14 – Drew Stanton (concussion) reportedly “feeling good,” but still has to pass the final stage(s) of the league’s protocol. Carson Palmer (shoulder) was “limited” during Thursday’s practice.
Take: You have to think the Cards will look to rest Palmer if Stanton can go. Stay tuned on this one.

News: 10/9/14 – Michael Crabtree (foot) has apparently insisted that his left foot is not an issue.
Take: Great news, but he needs to bounce-back here soon before he drops into low-end fantasy WR3 status. He still has upside to remain a fantasy WR2, but hope is fading.

News: 10/9/14 – Fred Jackson (ankle) was limited during Thursday’s practice.
Take: He is expected to play this week despite suffering the injury last week, but stay on top of this one!
