According to reports, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee) is ‘expected’ to play Week 1 against the Dolphins.

According to MiamiHerald.com, many believe that the Patriots will “pick their spots” with using Rob Gronkowski in Week 1.
SMITTY: No one knows how the Patriots will use Rob Gronkowski in Week 1, it really is impossible to predict how many plays he will play. He could play half-time and still catch a touchdown, or even two, or he could be used very little. If you play Gronk this week, you have to expect the move to be high-risk/high-reward… Tim Wright might be low-end TE1 worthy right away in Week 1… then when Gronk is back full-go, we will have to reevaluate Wright’s value. According to Mike Reiss on Twitter, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski had this to say on his Week 1 playing time: “Definitely not [playing] every single snap. But just get out there, get my feet wet, whatever we game-plan this week, will be good.”
SMITTY: If he is playing, he is worth starting, as Gronk could catch just two passes, but both could be touchdowns. Hopefully he gets healthier each week. It will be interesting to see how much action Tim Wright gets in Week 1. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

According to reports, the Patriots have acquired TE Tim Wright and a 2015 4th-round pick from the Bucs in exchange for LG Logan Mankins.
SMITTY: Some will speculate this has something to do with the health of Rob Gronkowski, but we aren’t sure that’s the case. Wright will replace the old role occupied by Aaron Hernandez, and it’s a nice safety net in case Gronk gets hurt again. Smart move by the Patriots, and it makes Wright an interesting fantasy TE2 in 2014. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?
