Hey Starters Nation:

We have a bit more news today and we wanted to get it out to you tonight!

Breaking News

Terrance West traded to TEN

The Browns have traded RB Terrance West to the Titans in exchange for a conditional 2016 7th-round pick. Titans rookie RB David Cobb was placed on IR-return with a calf injury, so this explains the move for the Titans, and West is kind of in the same situation Christine Michael now is in over in Dallas (Michael was traded to Dallas today). Both runners are likely going to start in a reserve-type role, but both are good enough to be their team’s starter. Michael, especially, has a chance at elite numbers should he rise into that Dallas starting running back role, but it’s important to keep in mind that both runners have an uphill climb. Grabbing both, especially Michael, is advised if you have the space!

James Jones returns to GB

James Jones is now a Packer. This isn’t great news for either Ty Montgomery or Jeff Janis, but we aren’t so sure it affects Davante Adams too much. It’s good for Aaron Rodgers, who could use a bit of veteran play with Jordy Nelson out for the year.

Colts waive Dan Herron

The Colts have waived Dan Herron, making both Vick Ballard and rookie Josh Robinson the back-ups to Frank Gore. Don’t be shocked if the team signs a Montee Ball or Jonas Gray.

Jay Ajayi placed on IR-return

Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi placed on IR-return with a rib injury. Damien Williams is the team’s top back-up as of now, which is huge for Lamar Miller owners, as Miller is set for no real competition. However, don’t be shocked if the team signs someone like Montee Ball or Jonas Gray.

NEWS: Ben Tate released by CLE; IND could have interest with Ahmad Bradshaw out for the year? Blount released by PIT.

SMITTY: We will keep you posted on this one, but this clearly gives bumps to both Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West, both of which hold different value from week to week. Despite his injury issues, it’s hard to imagine Ben Tate not landing with a team soon, as many teams are in need of a rusher right now. The Colts are a great candidate with Ahmad Bradshaw out for the season, and Trent Richardson looking awful… it isn’t tough imagining Ben Tate climbing up that Indy depth chart. The Steelers could also give Tate a look, as they released LeGarrette Blount today. Looking for Week 12 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Andy Dalton & AJ Green play awful in Week 10; All three CLE rushers score a touchdown.

SMITTY: Andy Dalton was just plain awful in this one, completing just 10-of-33 passes for 86 yards, 0TDs and 3INTs. Of course, this left AJ Green (3/23/0TDs) and Mohamed Sanu 2/20/0TDs) with zero change to produce, as there was just 86 yards and 0TDs to spread around. Dalton’s bad play, mixed with horrible game planning, eliminated Jeremy Hill’s production (12 carries for 55 yards) despite his solid 4.58 yards-per-carry tonight. He had a fumble, which took him out of the game plan for a bit, but we still like Hill a lot moving forward, at least as a flex (even when Giovani Bernard returns from his hip injury). The team, and Gio himself, may look to speed along his recovery after this horrible offensive performance, but we still only feel comfortable calling Gio ‘questionable’ for Week 11. He is a great buy-low candidate right now, though, if your team can weather through another missed game should he have to sit out Week 11. As for those Browns rushers, they all scored a touchdown in this one, and the stat lines looked like: West: 94/1TD, Crowell: 41/1TD and Tate: 34/1TD… West dominated the carries with 26, something that we speculated prior to the game, but in all honesty, playing any of those Browns rushers was a gamble prior to kickoff. West looks like the clear starter moving forward, though – for now. Looking for Week 10 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Thursday Night Week 10 Inactives (Bengals-Browns)

SMITTY: Giovani Bernard (hip) is inactive for the Bengals’ Thursday night Week 10 battle against the Browns; Andrew Hawkins (thigh/knee) and Jordan Cameron (head) are inactive for the Browns. Expect a whole lot of Jeremy Hill in this one, who was our top add weeks ago, and our start of the week last week. He could very well rush for over 100 and a score in this one. We expect to see flashes of the AJ Green of old as well. On the Browns side of the football, a three-headed rotation at running back is expected (Terrance West, Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell) – If we had to guess, West will lead the way, but anything can happen with such a hot hand approach. NEWS: Ben Tate to return to starting role? Crowell the NO. 2 and West the No. 3 in CLE?

SMITTY: According to the Browns running backs coach, Tate is expected to return to the line-up once he returns from his knee sprain. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, because when Tate is on the field, he has top 10RB upside. How long will he stay on the field, though? That’s the question, and that can be argued no question… if he can’t stay on the field long, Crowell might be the answer, but don’t rule out West, who has a grip of future upside still. This situation is kind of messy, one you almost want to avoid until it shakes out, but Crowell should be scooped up off waivers in medium and larger leagues, as he could see TD opportunities coming out of his Week 4 bye. Make sure Tate wasn’t dropped in your league(s), as again, he has top 10RB appeal if starting (injury risk or not). Looking for Week 4 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Ben Tate definitely out Week 2; Terrance West to start.

According to numerous reports, Browns RB Ben Tate (knee) is definitely going to sit out Week 2; Terrance West will start Week 2 with Isaiah Crowell seeing action. Jordan Cameron (shoulder) is still day to day.

SMITTY: So much for Ben Tate’s “it’s nothing serious” tweet. And, it looks like a 2-4 week injury now. Terrance West, a player we said all season was an absolute must for all Tate owners, will start and likely have a big Week 2. We love West and think he can really thrive in this league while getting starter carries. Isaiah Crowell shouldn’t be overlooked as a potential long-term option in CLE, but West has the momentum and is a big-time receiving threat Be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts for real-time updates on this situation (as well as Jordan Cameron’s situation/status).

NEWS: Ben Tate (knee) not seriously injured.

According to Ben Tate (knee) himself on Twitter, his knee injury is not serious. Here is the Tweet:
bentate tweet

SMITTY: This is good to hear, and it could put both the Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West projects on hold, or it will at least slow those projects down. Let’s see if Tate is being overly-optimistic… we will keep you posted on his Week 2 status, but it sounds like he has a real shot to play – at this point. Crowell and West remain solid 2014 prospects given how injury-prone Tate has proven to be. Be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts so you get all the updates on this in real time.
