NEWS: Percy Harvin to be kept healthy in 2014?

According to Tyler Dunne on Twitter, Seattle coach Pete Carroll had this to say on WR Percy Harvin: “A unique football player. He’s going to have a significant role. … Will be very important to keep him healthy.”

SMITTY: If Percy Harvin can stay healthy, which is a big IF, he could certainly be a top 15 fantasy wide receiver, and Russell Wilson could dance with the top 5-8QBs this year. Looking for Percy Harvin and Russell Wilson Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Jermaine Kearse running with the first-team in Seahawks camp?

According to reports, Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse has been regularly running with the first-team during Seahawks camp.

SMITTY: Folks, Jermaine Kearse could be an emerging talent… make sure he isn’t on waives in any of your dynasty leagues. If he is, scoop him up. No one is a lock, and he is very unproven, but he looked great down the stretch in 2013, and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard good things about his off-season. With Kearse looking sharp, and with Percy Harvin looking healthy, Russell Wilson might be able to take that extra step in fantasy production. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Marshawn Lynch not likely to retire?

According to NFL Media’s Jordan Babineaux, Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch isn’t likely to retire this off-season. “I don’t see Marshawn walking away just yet,” Babineaux said Friday morning. “He’s working on his training. He’s doing the normal things that he always does.”

SMITTY: I don’t think many people really believe Lynch will retire, as one usually doesn’t go from wanting a new deal (more money) to walking away from roughly $7 million that is already set to come his way. With Russell Wilson (still making under $1 million per season) needing to be extended, and with Lynch already getting paid right around top five running back money (through 2014 and 2015), why would Seattle do anything at all? Let’s say Lynch holds out, well, Christine Michael, one of my absolute favorite dynasty gems heading into the future, will just further secure-up his future with what would likely be impressive play. And, if Lynch doesn’t hold out, he is very likely to have yet another top 5-10 fantasy running back season, but still go on to face a potential release come this time next off-season, as the Seahawks will probably turn the keys over to Michael. Anything can happen between now and next off-season, but the casual fantasy football fan is going to laugh at the idea of the Seahawks releasing Marshawn Lynch in 2015, so strike now in dynasty leagues and go get one of this year’s top “stashes” (a “stash” that even has “secret weapon” appeal for 2014, as Lynch has a lot of mileage on his wheels).
