NEWS: Robert Griffin III practices in full on Wednesday; the QB could play Week 9.

SMITTY: This is a situation to monitor all week, as Colt McCoy played well enough in Week 8 to deserve another start if it means RG3 can get another week stronger, but it sounds like RG3 is making a strong push to give it a go. Stay tuned, especially if you plan on using whomever starts this week. Looking for Week 9 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Tony Romo (back) is at best questionable for Week 9 against AZ?

SMITTY: According to Ian Fitzsimmons, of ESPN Radio, Tony Romo (back injury) is “questionable” at best for Week 9 against the Cardinals. This situation got a lot worse as yesterday moved along. Initially reported not to be the same back issue that ended Romo’s 2013 season, the injury is clearly something to be worried about if you own the passer in fantasy leagues. We will keep you posted via this news wire and via our Smart Alerts, so keep checking back with us. Without Romo in Week 9, Dez Bryant would get a bump down stat-wise, and even though one would think it could mean more running for DeMarco Murray, really, a balanced offense is the best thing for ground success against a mean Arizona rushing defense — Murray owners want Romo under center! NEWS: Drew Stanton (concussion) cleared for Week 6; Larry Fitzgerald for Tom Brady trade rumors?

SMITTY: Getting Stanton cleared for Week 6 is solid news for the Cards, and it makes us think that the team will hold Carson Palmer (shoulder/nerve) out one more week just to be certain they can get him as healthy as possible before he commands the offense again. As for the Larry Fitzgerald for Tom Brady trade rumors, there is a speculative piece out by Sports World Report, nothing confirmed, but it’s an interesting move, something I’d love to see go down. The Cards have John Brown ready for an expanded role, and frankly the team doesn’t use Fitz properly. The defense is the Cardinals’ foundation, they would instantly be a bigger threat with Brady under center (despite his horrible play as of late – A new environment might help him remain top 5-6 capable for 1-2 more seasons). Again, this is merely speculation at this point, but interesting speculation for sure. Checkout where we have all those Cardinals receivers ranked on our Week 6 Power Rankings now that Stanton is at least going to be under center this week. Stay tuned for more updates on Palmer, as he could still play this week. We expect a big day for Andre Ellington in the Cards’ Week 6 battle against the Redskins. Of course, that Cards defense is an excellent play in this one!

NEWS: Eric Decker looking likely to play in Week 3?

SMITTY: Despite the hamstring issue, it looks like Eric Decker is on pace to play during Monday night’s Week 1 battle against the Bears. The problem here is that the game is on Monday night, so you may have to make a decision on Sunday. This is when our Smart Alerts come in handy, as well as our Week 3 Power Rankings, as our rankings might have one of your bench guys scoring more than Decker anyway. The Bears are currently 10th against the pass through two weeks, so this isn’t a great match-up for Geno Smith and Decker, but as always, anything can happen on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, and really it boils down to your alternatives, which is why our Forums are so valuable! NEWS: Robert Griffin III has dislocated ankle; could miss 6-8 weeks.

According to reports, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will miss 6-8 weeks with a dislocated ankle.

SMITTY: The good news for Griffin is that an MRI revealed no fracture. The bad news for Griffin is that Kirk Cousins has a lot of supporters, and apparently Jay Gruden is one of them. He deserves a shot to run this offense. I hate saying that because I love Griffin, but the guy can’t stay healthy, and Cousins has proven enough to get a run at this offense even if Griffin is near-ready to return. If Cousins does well in this 6-8 week window, expect Washington to hold off on bringing Griffin back. Be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts to get updates on this situation.

NEWS: Cam Newton could sit Week 1?

According to reports, there is a chance Panthers QB Cam Newton (ribs) could miss week 1 (Sunday).

SMITTY: Most of the reports have Cam Newton casting some serious doubt on his ability to be full-go, but also that he could be ‘on pace’ to play. We will have to wait and see on this one, and if you own him, be certain to check back just before kickoff. Derek Anderson would get the go if Newt sat, and Anderson is not a recommended option let alone add. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Cam Newton should be ready for week one.

According to reports, Panthers coach Ron Rivera remains optimistic that QB Cam Newton (ribs) will be ready for Week 1 (Sunday).

SMITTY: We will certainly let you know if anything changes, but we fully expect him to start Week 1, even if he remains super-limited leading into opening day. Newt is a tough QB to rank right now, as he has limited receiving talent outside of Greg Olsen (who should be a lock for 70-80 receptions, 800-900 yards and 6-8TDs). However, with an 8th-round ADP and trade value, it’s hard not to see mostly upside with very little risk. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Percy Harvin to be kept healthy in 2014?

According to Tyler Dunne on Twitter, Seattle coach Pete Carroll had this to say on WR Percy Harvin: “A unique football player. He’s going to have a significant role. … Will be very important to keep him healthy.”

SMITTY: If Percy Harvin can stay healthy, which is a big IF, he could certainly be a top 15 fantasy wide receiver, and Russell Wilson could dance with the top 5-8QBs this year. Looking for Percy Harvin and Russell Wilson Week 1 Power Rankings?
