3/6/2015: Emmanuel Sanders is a risky sell, but also a risky hold. Why? Well, he is a risky sell because he still has low-end WR1 upside if things go right for him in DEN in 2015. That said, if Peyton Manning is on the decline, something… Read Spotlight
SMITTY: The team doesn’t appear to be worried about his calf, and neither are we. Expect him to be ready to rumble against the Cowboys in a Divisional battle. This should be a high-scoring event for all those Cowboys and Packers players. Looking for Week 19 Fantasy Football Playoff Rankings?
SMITTY: As we previously reported, Tom Brady could just play one half in this contest in Week 17, but that is speculation, of course. According to other sources, Rob Gronkowski may not play at all in Week 17, and if he does, he will play very little. While this isn’t coming from the team, nor will it, it’s safe to assume that the Patriots will take it easier with their starters in this game, yet another reason we advise against playing through Week 17. SMITTY: This is tipping back in the right direction for TY Hilton owners, as he was looking very iffy to play Week 17 earlier in the week. Still, you have to wonder how much he will play, or for how long. The Colts have made it clear that they won’t bench their starters in Week 17, as they want to gain some confidence heading into the playoffs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the starters will play the entire game either. It’s risky playing Week 17 in fantasy football, that’s why we recommend all leagues have their fantasy championship in Week 16. However, we are here to support all leagues and types, but just know that Hilton is almost impossible to sit as a fantasy wR2 if playing, but comes with risk. Also, if you need a WR3 or WR4, Donte Moncrief remains a high-risk/super-high-reward play in Week 17 (even after last week’s huge letdown, which was not Moncrief’s fault). SMITTY: Nothing is official, but it’s looking like Dwayne Allen is trending to sit Week 17, which would make Coby Fleener a very solid TE play in Week 17. The thinking here is that the Colts will look to get Allen healthy for the playoff battle, and it’s logical. Stay tuned, this could certainly change, but even if he plays, he could play a little, so regardless Fleener is a nice play in a week where big name players aren’t necessarily a lock to produce. While on the topic of the Colts, TY Hilton is back at practice and looking more likely to play Week 17; however, he could play a little or a lot, that’s a risky thing to predict given the Colts will also want to rest Hilton for the playoffs. While he burned many fantasy owners last week (not his fault given how Luck played in Week 16), Donte Moncrief has strong fantasy WR3-type appeal heading into Week 17. Stay tuned on both of these guys! Looking for Week 17 Power Rankings?
SMITTY: This is a tough spot to be in for all you TY Hilton owners out there, as the Colts have already clinched the AFC South. The Colts could be cautious with Hilton so that he is ready to rock in the playoffs. SMITTY: He took most of the first-team reps during Thursday’s practice, which indicates he will be back in the line-up this week (unless, of course, he suffers a setback of some kind, which is why you need to be dialed into our Smart Alerts). This is great news for Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen, but Cam is still a risky play given we aren’t sure how much his back will affect his play (especially running) in Week 16. SMITTY: Earlier reports suggested that coach Smith expects Julio Jones (hip) to play the Saints in Week 16, but we have seen this too many times before, where a coach, or player, promises the world and then sits. Don’t count on having Julio this week if just to ensure you’re prepared for the worst-case scenario. Harry Douglas, one of our top pick-up recommendations of the week last week, should be owned in all formats, as he is almost a low-end WR2 whenever Julio is out. We will keep you posted once we know more on the stud’s status for this most-important week in fantasy. Looking for Week 16 Power Rankings?
SMITTY: He practiced in full on Friday, according to most reports, so he is back in the top 1-5WR range for Week 15. We expect a huge bounce-back effort out of Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders (and hopefully Julius Thomas returns to action with some top 5TE production). Also, CJ Anderson is now probable for this game and fully expected to play. He was limited some on Thursday with an ankle injury, but is fully expected to be back to starter carries in Week 15. SMITTY: He isn’t a QB one can trust in the fantasy playoffs, not unless you’re in the deepest of 2QB leagues. Looking for Week 15 Power Rankings?
