Sunday Morning Breaking News (Week 14)

Below is our Breaking News Wire for Week 14. Check back all morning long, and stay tuned to our Smart Alerts as well, as news can often break last-minute!

NEWS: According to reports, Browns TE Travis Benjamin (shoulder) and TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) are both expected to start Week 14 on Sunday.

FANTASY: Johnny Manziel loves Travis Benjamin, so as long as he remains a go, he is a strong WR this week.

NEWS: According to reports, Chargers QB Philip Rivers (flu) is expected to start Week 13 against KC.

FANTASY: “Expected” is the keyword here, so play this with caution, especially given the QB has lost so many weapons this year. Check back, but for now, he is ‘expected’ to play.

NEWS: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that NE TE Rob Gronkowski (knee) will be ready “if needed” for Sunday’s Week 14 game against the Texans.

FANTASY: This went from him not looking likely to play, to looking very likely given that he made the flight with the team… now, he could be ready on an emergency basis, or decoy. This will be a game-time call, so keep checking back on this one!

NEWS: According to reports, Packers RB Eddie Lacy will be the Packers’ top runner on Sunday against the Cowboys.

FANTASY: Last week was a disaster, after Lacy missed curfew and killed fantasy owners in unexpected fashion. This week, he should be considered a RB2 with high upside, but also a touch of risk.

NEWS: According to Rotoworld, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Eagles have “weighed all options” in regards to RB DeMarco Murray including benching him, and the team has already announced that Darren Sproles will be the feature back in Week 14.

FANTASY: Murray owners have had enough, and hopefully most of you own Sproles. Sproles is a very solid flex play this week (with upside for more), while Murray, right now, is looking like a “hopefully something changes in his favor next season” type of player.

NEWS: According to reports, Ravens QB Matt Schaub (questionable, chest) is not expected to play Week 14 on Sunday.

FANTASY: Jimmy Clausen will likely start against Seattle in Week 14.

NEWS: Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (back) is doubtful for Week 14 against the Seahawks.

FANTASY: If we hear more, we will let you know!

Sunday Morning Week 9 News Wire

Good morning, Starters Nation. Below is our Sunday Morning News Wire, which we will update all morning long heading into kickoff. Good luck in Week 9, everyone!

Week 9 Breaking News

NEWS: Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater was knocked unconsious moments ago and was slow to get up.

FANTASY: He will have to exit the game for at least a play, likely longer. We will keep you posted.

NEWS: Patriots RB Dion Lewis left Week 9 against the Redskins with a left knee injury.

FANTASY: The runner went down without contact, which is never a good thing. LeGarrette Blount could become a strong RB2 if Lewis is out for a while/season. We will let you know once we know more.

NEWS: According to the NFL Red Zone, Colts WR TY Hilton is active and ready to play Week 9.

FANTASY: This goes against everything that was being reported this morning, so clearly he tested the foot and feels good about playing. Start him with caution and stay on top of this in case something changes prior to kickoff, but he looks like a go, which is great for Andrew Luck owners. Keep in mind, we still like Moncrief in this one, and the Colts are expected to get both Fleener and Allen more involved in this one.

NEWS: According to reports, Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) expects to play Week 9 against the Jaguars. Eric Decker is also active.

FANTASY: Stay close to your Smart Alerts, but he looks like a go as of now.

NEWS: Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is expected to play Sunday against New England.

FANTASY: It’s tough to trust the guy as anything more than a low-end WR3/4.

NEWS: Titans WR Kendall Wright is out this week; Justin Hunter will start in his place in Week 9.

FANTASY: If you need a WR this week, Hunter isn’t a bad play. Dorial Green-Beckham, a super talented player, is also a sneaky play this week..

NEWS: According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, T.Y. Hilton (foot) is a “longshot” to play in Week 9 against Denver.

FANTASY: Donte Moncrief will get some extra looks, so he is a great play. Andre Johnson also has sneaky WR3/flex play for the week. Check back with us on Hilton, though.

NEWS: According to Rotoworld, Chargers OC Frank Reich said that the team needs to “keep feeding” the ball to rookie rusher Melvin Gordon.

FANTASY: Rotoworld provides this quote from the OC: “You get a guy like Melvin the ball enough times, you’re hoping that one of those runs is going to pop out of there,” said Reich. Don’t give up on Gordon despite the growing pains, we still love his future, and he could have sneaky good value moving forward if he can hold onto the football in Week 9.

NEWS: Chargers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 9.

FANTASY: Antonio Gates (knee) is probable. Expect Gates to have a big, big game, assuming that he suffers no setbacks and can be full-go.

NEWS: Bill WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) is questionable for Week 9, however, most sources are projecting that Watkins plays.

FANTASY: Stay tuned to our news wire and Smart Alerts all morning, as we will surely update you on this situaton as the morning unfolds.

NEWS: 49ers RB Pierre Thomas is expected to be part of a RBBC in Week 9.

FANTASY: Most sources are predicting that Kendall Gaskins gets the start and a higher percentage of the Week 9 carries, but anything can happen with these kinds of situations. If we had to guess, Gaskins is the play if you owned both and had to pick one to start, but using either comes with some significant risk.

SUNDAY NEWS: Live Feed All Day Long (Week 8)

This Week 8 Sunday News topic will be updated all Sunday long!!!

Sign-Up For Smart Alerts if you haven’t already!

News: 10/26 According to NFL Newtwork’s Stacey Dales, AJ Green will “NOT” play in Week 8, although he is “very close.” She also tweeted this: “I’m told 70-30” for Week 9.
Take: We will keep you posted all next week, and be sure to be signed up for our Smart Alerts.

News: 10/26 According to the Bills on Twitter, Anthony Dixon will start Week 8 against NYJ.
Take: Don’t be surprised if either Dixon or Bryce Brown lead the team in carries this week. Most all of us knew that Jerick McKinnon should have been starting for MIN over Asiata, yet it took MIN a while to turn to McKinnon. Brown is the better back, but that doesn’t mean it will all translate right away. Both Dixon and Brown have equal parts ‘upside’ and ‘risk’ entering Week 8.

News: 10/26 Lorenzo Taliaferro is reportedly going to get some goal-line in Week 8 now that Bernard Pierce is a healthy scratch.
Take: He is a play for those desperate with injuries, but that’s about it. For now. This is Forsett’s team right now, at least in terms of the running back production.

News: 10/26 Bishop Sankey is expected to start Week 8 game against HOU.
Take: Shonn Greene (hamstring) is active, though, despite his recent arrest, but Sankey should have a nice outing in Week 8!

News: 10/26 Vincent Jackson is active for Week 8 against MIN.
Take: He is a strong WR3 or even low-end WR2 whenever on the field. Also, there are some rumors that teams like the Eagles, Patriots, and Seahawks are calling Tampa Bay about the receiver. We will keep you updated on this as news develops heading into Tuesday’s trade deadline.

News: 10/26 Storm Johnson is a healthy scratch for Week 8 against MIA.
Take: Gerhart is back, but D-Robinson should be the primary ball carrier in this one.

News: 10/26 Shane Vereen (illness) is active for Week 8 against CHI.
Take: He is a fine flex/RB3 this week, and solid low-end RB2 in larger leagues.

News: 10/26 Bernard Pierce is a healthy scratch for Week 8 against CIN.
Take: It should be the Justin Forsett Show in Week 8. The runner is a low-end RB2, or fine flex-play, this week, no question.

News: 10/26 ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is predicting that Darren Sproles (knee) will be inactive against AZ.
Take: Great news for LeSean McCoy owners. Sproles owners better get the little guy out of line-ups!

News: 10/26 Giovani Bernard is active for Week 8 against BAL.
Take: As expected… We still love Gio moving forward. He has RB1 dynasty upside, no doubt!

News: 10/26 Eric Decker (hamstring) is active for Week 8 against BUF.
Take: He is a WR3 this week.

News: 10/26 According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Seahawks have “grown tired” of Marshawn Lynch’s “ways,” and the rusher is not expected back in 2015.
Take: This is exactly what Christine Michael owners wanted to hear, although, it would be nice to see the Seahawks showcase the runner a touch in order to give him a sense of ‘upside’ for next season. It’s only Week 8, so there is still a ton of time to see Michael get some run, and all it will take is a week or two, even if it’s just a string of change-of-pace work. Somehow, though, these runners (in these situations) find ways to start Week 16 and 17, so we shall see there… We, Michael supporters, all knew there was a chance we’d see very little from Michael this season, making his big ‘potential’ season in 2015. We also knew that there was some risk in counting on Michael as a future stud, but no one should have invested at a high price. Michael has MONSTER upside, we just hope he gets a fair shot to start in Seattle in 2015, and things seem to be heading in that direction – for now

News: 10/26 The Colts are reportedly “leaning toward sitting” Trent Richardson (hamstring) for Week 8 against PIT.
Take: It’s going to be the Ahmad Bradshaw Show in Week 8, something that was likely regardless of T-Rich’s status.

News: 10/26 UPDATE: Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush and Eric Ebron are officially inactive for Week 8 in London.
News: 10/26 Calvin Johnson is not expected to play in Week 8; Reggie Bush is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Take: The thinking here is that with the Lions having a Week 9 bye, Calvin Johnson will have two weeks to rest up if the team sits him in London. This particular game kicks off at 9:30am EST, which gives fantasy owners a jump on making any kind of decision should things change. For now, though, Calvin Johnson is fully expected to sit, and Bush is also likely out. This makes both Golden Tate and Joique Bell fine plays in Week 8!

News: 10/26 AJ Green, according to the NFL Network and other sources, will not play in Week 8 against BAL due to his toe.
Take: Stay all over both our News Wire and our Smart Alerts in case something changes, but we are not expecting Green to play in this one.

News: 10/26 Dez Bryant (shoulder) is probable for Week 8 against WAS; Tony Romo (ribs) is probable.
Take: The receiver is a top 1-4WR play this week, and arguably a top 1-2 overall WR moving forward.

News: 10/26 Percy Harvin is expected to be the Jets’ downfield threat.
Take: It’s tough to say if that will happen this week, as a lot of sources seem cautiously-optimistic about his Week 8 usage. Harvin is the definition of a risky play this week, but could develop into a strong fantasy WR3/flex down the stretch in the coming weeks. If you have a start/sit dilemma that involves Harvin this week, jump on our Forums and get some different takes on the decision!

News: 10/26 Jonas Gray is being called the team’s “big back” heading into this week.
Take: He is a super-high risk play this week, but it wouldn’t be crazy to see him get a TD, and some unexpected usage. That said, it wouldn’t be crazy to see him have zero impact. That’s New England for you. Shane Vereen is a decent fantasy RB2 play this week and “should” get some serious usage in this one. The “should” comes into play because he has been iffy all week with an illness, but most all sources around expect him to roll in this one. Stay on our Smart Alerts just in case news breaks suggesting he could sit.

News: 10/26 Both Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson are ‘out’ for Week 8.
Take: This makes Mark Ingram a very good play in this one, and it also makes Travaris Cadet a sneaky-good RB3/flex play, especially in PPR formats.

News: 10/26 Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 8.
Take: Expect to see a whole lot of Sammy Watkins in this one. The rookie could be a strong fantasy WR2-type play the rest of the way in 2014.

News: 10/26 John Brown (ankle) and Andre Ellington (foot) are both probable for Week 8 against the Eagles.
Take: While Ellington is a must-play, and a top 10RB play at that, John Brown is too hit-and-miss to count on, not unless you are in a super-deep league. He has a bright future, though, and will show flashes of brilliance along the way.

News: 10/26 Martellus Bennett (hamstring) is probable for Week 8.
Take: He is a go and a fine play this week.

News: 10/26 Andre Johnson (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 8.
Take: He is a must-play despite the ankle injury.

News: 10/26 Jimmy Graham (shoulder) is questionable for Week 8.
Take: Unless he suffers a setback in warm-ups, or has and no one is reporting on it yet, he is fully expected to play. Last week he didn’t catch a pass despite playing a decent amount, so there is risk in playing the tight end. However, whenever Jimmy Graham is playing, you almost have to start him. He could play 10 snaps in red zone situations and still catch 2TDs. Stay tuned to both our News Wire and our Smart Alerts in case something changes or develops.

News: 10/26 Travis Kelce (ribs) is probable for Week 8.
Take: Stay on top of our Smart Alerts, but he appears to be a go and is a must-play.
