SMITTY: The Jets declared TE Jace Amaro, RE Muhammad Wilkerson, QB Matt Simms, WR Walter Powell, CB Josh Thomas, OL Dakota Dozier, and OL Wesley Johnson inactive for Monday night’s Week 13 contest against MIA; Charles Clay (knee) is inactive for the Dolphins. If you were planning on starting Clay, be sure to quickly scoop up and start Dion Sims, who will start in his place. We expect big games out of Lamar Miller, Ryan Tannehill and Jarvis Landry. Landry could be a rising star, so look for him to progress down the stretch here in these final five games of the NFL season. As for those Jets players, only Percy Harvin has decent upside on a weekly basis, and that's only at a WR3 in larger leagues.
SMITTY: Neither is worth much unless you’re in a large 2QB league, or are desperate for a back-up QB in a larger league. The Jets QB situation really limits those receivers from a fantasy perspective, and I’m not sure it matters which QB is in that line-up… neither will turn any Jets receiver into a consistent option. SMITTY: We have never been high on Geno Smith and I don’t see that changing. He may not even get another chance to start in this league — That will all depend on if Mike Vick can stay healthy and produce. The tougher task for Vick could be staying healthy. The QB is a decent grab in larger leagues if you need a back-up passer, and of course, he should be grabbed in all 2QB leagues. Looking for Week 9 Power Rankings?
SMITTY: This is a strange trade for the Jets. First, Harvin (thigh) is banged up. Second, the Jets are 1-6. As for the Seahawks, they free up a lot with this move, and they have some resigning to do next off-season (Russell Wilson and possibly Marshawn Lynch). Freeing up cash isn’t something Christine Michael owners were hoping for, but so many things can happen at the running back position by next off-season, that’s something we will have to attack down the road (for all you dynasty folks out there). This gives big bumps to both Paul Richardson and Jermaine Kearse (in both dynasty and redraft), and despite Harvin having just one 50+ yard outing this year, this has to hurt the 2014 value of Russell Wilson, if even just a little bit. Harvin may not have a huge stat line through Week 6, but he commands a ton of defensive attention, and he had 3TDs called back in one game… he is stretching the field and creating all kinds of chaos for opposing defenses. Do we like Harvin in New York? No. I’m not sure any fantasy players can be consistent in a Jets’ uniform (at least this year). This move has to help Geno Smith, but not enough to be anything close to a fantasy QB1. Looking for Week 7 Power Rankings?
SMITTY: The receiver reportedly told ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters that “he’ll play” in Monday night’s Week 3 contest against the Bears. He is a fantasy WR3 in most formats when on the field. Be sure to sign up for Smart Alerts in case this situation changes last-minute!
SMITTY: Despite the hamstring issue, it looks like Eric Decker is on pace to play during Monday night’s Week 1 battle against the Bears. The problem here is that the game is on Monday night, so you may have to make a decision on Sunday. This is when our Smart Alerts come in handy, as well as our Week 3 Power Rankings, as our rankings might have one of your bench guys scoring more than Decker anyway. The Bears are currently 10th against the pass through two weeks, so this isn’t a great match-up for Geno Smith and Decker, but as always, anything can happen on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, and really it boils down to your alternatives, which is why our Forums are so valuable! Get on there and talk about your lineup dilemmas!
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Jets WR Eric Decker “will be among the league leaders in targets” in 2014.
SMITTY: Well, that’s one man’s prediction. Eric Decker might have a decent season, but he has Geno Smith throwing him the ball, not Peyton Manning. Personally, I think Decker can’t live up to that kind of hype in New York. His ADP is only in the 8th- to 9th-round, though, and that’s not a bad price to pay. So, will he be a fantasy WR2 in 2014? I say no, but good thing you don’t have to pay that kind of value for him. Chris Johnson is the high-ceiling/high risk player on that Jets roster entering 2014. He could earn his 5th-round ADP, and that’s not a crazy price tag either given his potential. Looking for Chris Johnson Projections for the 2014 fantasy football season?
