NEWS: Eddie Lacy explodes in Week 5; He is back!

SMITTY: Eddie Lacy was one of our top buy-low players heading into Week 5, and his 105 rushing yards and 2TDs was a fantastic bounce-back effort. He looked phenomenal, too, it wasn’t like his yardage wasn’t tough-running. It was! Be sure to sign-up for our newsletters, as we often email out trade tips and ‘buy-low’ candidates heading into the coming week, like Lacy’s:

In all fairness, we have stuck by Cordarrelle Patterson as a strong buy-low candidate, yet he continues to disappoint. Given his value is climbing into low-end flex value, if not lower, he still remains a nice buy-low, but maybe stash him until Bridgewater returns (which could be next game). As for the rest of the Packers, Randall Cobb pulled in three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown during Thursday night’s win over the Vikings, and Jordy Nelson caught one pass for 66 yards and a touchdown. The only Viking to play even decent last night was Matt Asiata, who rushed 15 times for 72 yards against the Pack. Looking for Week 5 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Teddy Bridgewater inactive for Week 5; Rodgers, Cobb, Nelson and Lacy to have big nights?

SMITTY: Looks like Teddy Bridgewater believers will have to wait for his return. Jarrett Boykin is also inactive in this contest. As for that Vikings rushing game, there are two schools of thought here. First, the team will run the ball a ton, and they will, but for how long? The second school of though is that GB will get out to an early lead forcing MIN to ‘try’ to pass their way back into the game. Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon are both set to get some good work early on, but their carry totals by the end of the game will be dictated by the flow of this contest. Cordarrelle Patterson is sitting in boom or bust territory in fantasy worlds, but our advice has been to buy-low, as his current trade value is low enough that risk is just about built-in. Hopefully he is unleashed tonight! As for Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy, it’s hard not to expect big performances out of every single one of them, as that Vikings defense is middle of the road against both the pass and the rush. This is a big game for Lacy, as his owners are about ready to jump ship. Looking for Week 5 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Teddy Bridgewater availability to be decided game-time; Eddie Lacy to lose carries or thrive?

SMITTY: It sounds like Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) wants to play and the Vikes will just play it safe right up until about 90 minutes before kickoff. Anything can happen in warm-ups, so be sure to stay all over our news and Smart Alerts, but our early guess is that Bridgewater will make a strong push to get onto the field tonight against the Packers. If the QB can’t play, the team will try to run the ball a ton, but if the game gets out of hand, that plan could collapse by the second quarter. Jarius Wright is a much better play with Bridgewater in the line-up, as proven by his monster Week 4 under Bridgewater’s command. As for Eddie Lacy, one report (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) is suggesting we could see more James Starks tonight in Week 5. Sure, this could be the case, but the Pack could also get out to an early lead, in which we’d also expect to see a lot of Starks. Lacy is a boom or bust player at this point; he is the definition of a boom or bust buy-low candidate. If he continues to struggle, he could turn into one of the bigger busts of 2014. If he bounces back, those that bought low could win leagues. This week could determine a lot for Lacy owners, good or bad. The same could be said for Cordarrelle Patterson, who we have pegged as a great buy-low this week. That said, it’s entirely possible his breakout season doesn’t unfold until next year, which is why it’s a boom or bust move to buy-low on CP right now. However, if you truly buy-low, risk is minimized, so be certain to offer the right deals (use our Trade Analyzer!). Looking for Week 5 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Eddie Lacy (concussion) in full pads at Packers practice on Thursday.

According to Tom Silverstein on Twitter, Packers RB Eddie Lacy was seen “working in full pads” on Thursday.

SMITTY: This is great news for Eddie Lacy owners. Staying healthy has always been a concern for me when it comes to Lacy (and now he has two concussions in 17 regular season games), but when on the field, there is no denying he has top 4-5RB upside… James Starks is a smart handcuff if you own Lacy… if his status changes prior to Sunday, you can bet our Smart Alerts will have you covered… Looking for Eddie Lacy Week 2 Power Rankings?

NEWS: James Starks to start if Eddie Lacy (concussion) cannot.

According to numerous reports, Packers RB James Starks will start Week 2 if Eddie Lacy (concussion) is unable to play.

SMITTY: Eddie Lacy is moving rapidly through the league’s concussion protocol, so odds are that Lacy plays Week 2, but this is a reminder that Starks is a must-own for all Lacy owners. If Starks is available in your league, whether you’re a Lacy owner or not, he one of this week’s better pick-ups for sure, but not over players like Justin Forsett or Allen Hurns (or of course Josh Gordon if for some reason he is available). NEWS: Eddie Lacy optimistic that he will be cleared for Week 2.

According to PFT, Packers RB Eddie Lacy is “optimistic he’ll be cleared to play in Week Two.”

SMITTY: This is great news for Eddie Lacy owners. Two concussions with really one season and one game in the books is concerning long-term, but Lacy is almost a good buy-low candidate just as long as he is fully ready for Week 2. Be sure to sign up for our Smart Alerts so that you can be kept up to date on Lacy’s status heading into Week 2, and also to get trade idea tips regarding Lacy and players like him. NEWS: Eddie Lacy exited Thursday season opener with concussion?

Packers RB Eddie Lacy was forced from Thursday’s Week 1 season opener against the Seahawks with a concussion.

SMITTY: The runner left in the 4th-quarter after aggressively running into Kam Chancellor (on purpose). This is Eddie Lacy’s second concussion in his young career, which is a bit concerning. If healthy, and he has well over a week to clear the league’s concussion protocols, he is a fantasy RB1. Just keep checking back regarding his health, as anything can develop with concussions. NEWS: Eddie Lacy could lead the league in rushing in 2014?

According to jsonline.com, Packers running back coach Sam Gash believes that RB Eddie Lacy is capable of leading the league in rushing this season. “Without a doubt,” Sam Gash, the team’s running backs coach, said Monday. “He has the capability of being the leading rusher and maybe even combined yards if he catches a lot of balls. I absolutely do think that. I think he’s a bell cow. He’s a big guy, and he’s physical.”

SMITTY: Gash isn’t alone, which is why Eddie Lacy’s ADP has climbed into the 1.04 range in many redraft drafts. He and Matt Forte are dominating the ADP data for being the 4th-ranked rusher heading into 2014. Looking for Eddie Lacy Week 1 Power Rankings?
