2015 Live Expert Draft (PPR, 6 point TD passes)

smitty staff

Below is a real Live 2015 Expert Fantasy Football Draft, with PPR scoring and 6 points per TD pass, which alters QB values quite a bit. In this real expert draft, which is currently in the third-round, we were handed the 1.03 draft slot, and while some would wait on a QB regardless of 6 points per TD type scoring, an argument can be made for taking either Andrew Luck or Aaron Rodgers in the first-round in such a format. It boils down to preference and drafting strengths… what do you like? What are you good at? Do you love building around the top passer? When you think about it, you can wait on a QB in the 4th-round, and let’s say you grab a Matthew Stafford or Matt Ryan… that’s awesome value in the 4th- to 5th-rounds, sure, and there is nothing wrong with that approach… but, what two players will you land with such a strategy, that’s what you have to look at before you just write-off the approach of taking Luck/Rodgers in the first-round (in a 6 point per TD pass league). You either get an Aaron Rodgers (1st) and Jarvis Landry (4th) or a Dez Bryant (1st) and Matt Ryan (4th). Either duo is strong and either can win you a league if you build around it just right. So, the point here is, there will always be more people in a league willing to wait on a QB than willing to take one of Luck/Rodgers in the first-round, and that’s fine, but there is something to having the league’s highest scoring player in a 6 point per TD pass league…. it’s secure, it often times helps you win weeks single handedl. Plus, as you can see below, going QB in the first, we still landed one fine trio: Aaron Rodgers, AJ Green, LeSean McCoy. I’m not sure waiting on a passer would have worked out better than this. Can it backfire? Yes, it sure can, any strategy can, as no one can fully predict flow of draft and predict what players will fall. Here is the draft through almost all three rounds… expert commentary to follow after we get through about round five!
