Archive for Donald Brown

NEWS: Injuries heading into Week 6; Branden Oliver on the rise, Montee Ball could be out a bit, Calvin Johnson suffered a setback in Week 5.

Donald Brown left Week 5 with a concussion. Branden Oliver dropped 182 total yards and 2TDs in Week 5, and he now becomes a must-own in all leagues and this week’s top waiver wire grab.

Montee Ball suffered a groin injury in Week 5 and is getting an MRI. He is looking very questionable for the next couple games. Ronnie Hillman is a must grab this week.

Calvin Johnson suffered a setback in Week 5; his week 6 status is in question.

Rashad Jennings left Week 5 with a knee injury and will undergo an MRI. Andre Williams is not likely available in any leagues, but do check. If Jennings is out, Williams could produce fantasy RB2 numbers if getting starter carries.

Jimmy Graham injured his shoulder in Week 5, but early word is that it isn’t serious. Stay tuned.

Reggie Bush left Week 5 with an ankle injury. It is not though to be serious, but stay tuned. Hopefully Joique Bell will be back in the next contest.

Drew Stanton suffered a concussion in Week 5; Carson Palmer could be back next week, so keep tabs on this one. Palmer back would be good for Floyd, Fitz and Ellington.

Zac Stacy exited Week 5 with a calf injury. He did not return to the game, so there is concern here. Benny Cunningham is a must-grab if for some reason he is available. It’s not likely, though, but check waivers.

NEWS: Donald Brown to get a grip of carries in Week 4?

SMITTY: It sounds like San Diego is going to feed him the rock this week, but the team is averaging well below 3.0 yards-per-carry. Still, if you need a runner this week, due to all the injuries or byes, he isn’t a bad play at all. With Woodhead and Mathews both down, he and Branden Oliver, a player to monitor (especially in dynasty), are going to get solid touches by default. Looking for Week 4 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Danny Woodhead signs a two-year extension.

According to reports, Chargers RB Danny Woodhead signed a two-year extension which extends the runner through 2016.

SMITTY: I’m not a big Ryan Mathews supporter at all, and I would much rather invest in Danny Woodhead’s 9th-round ADP than even touch Mathews’ 4th-round ADP. I wouldn’t touch Mathews in the 5th, which is why you won’t see me owning him at all in 2014. Donald Brown is said to be getting this year’s ‘grunt work’ type carries, and Woodhead is a strong bet for 70+ receptions (he had 76 last season), which leaves Mathews looking like a big pile of risk in 2014 (given the 4th-round cost). Marion Grice might even have something to say about getting some 2014 carries. I say avoid Mathews in 2014. Find out where we have all these guys ranked heading into 2014!
