NEWS: Randall Cobb only has sprained AC joint in shoulder?

2015 fantasy football player spotlights

Randall Cobb

8/31/2015: Randall Cobb reportedly escaped this weekend with just a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, which likely means he will be day-to-day heading into Week 1. Guessing this far away from Week 1 kickoff is tough, but if forced to guess, we’d say he plays Week 1. Either way, Cobb owners can rest easy that the injury is considered relatively minor considering. Davante Adams is set to have a big 2015 fantasy season. Had Cobb suffered a season-ending injury, one of Ty Montgomery or Jeff Janis would have seen a huge bump in fantasy value. Keep both receivers on your mind until Cobb proves fully healthy, though. Breaking News: Jordy Nelson suffers torn ACL?

2015 fantasy football player spotlights

Jordy Nelson

8/23/2015: Jordy Nelson has reportedly suffered a torn ACL. He left the team’s second preseason game and went to the ground. He did walk off the field prior, but initial reports are that he suffered a torn ACL. We will confirm all this and get back to you with an update, but give Randall Cobb a big bump into the locked-in fantasy WR1 group (which he was already sniffing), and give Davante Adams a nice bump into a sneaky good fantasy WR3-type value, and look for both Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery to get some more run. Eddie Lacy also becomes more valuable in the team’s passing attack, making him a top 4 overall lock in all drafts. Aaron Rodgers definitely takes a little hit, but honestly, he is still right there with Andrew Luck regardless. Our Analyzers are updated already reflecting this news. Read More Spotlights

NEWS: Aaron Rodgers and team not concerned over calf?

SMITTY: The team doesn’t appear to be worried about his calf, and neither are we. Expect him to be ready to rumble against the Cowboys in a Divisional battle. This should be a high-scoring event for all those Cowboys and Packers players. Looking for Week 19 Fantasy Football Playoff Rankings?

5. Jordan Matthews | PHI WR

Date: 7/24/14

This 2014 rookie receiving class is just flat-out phenomenal, as we are talking about the 4th receiver ranked, and this receiver can be a fantasy WR1 if he develops properly. Jordan Matthews is 6-3, 212 pounds, but he plays like he is 6-5, 225 pounds. He has a long reach and has phenomenal spacial awareness. View this exact play right here to see what I mean… if you watched that play, you should have noticed not only Matthews’ timing pulling in the reception, but his innate ability to use his body to defend the area around the football. It’s an instinct most players don’t develop until their second or third NFL season, but Matthews has a natural instinct to use his body to position the defender where he wants the defender. It’s masterful if you take the time to watch him in acton. Like Brandin Cooks, Matthews couldn’t have landed in a more potent offense. And, in Matthews’ case, the Eagles are in need of a big-time possession receiver, and it appears Chip Kelly is going to immediately lean on the rookie. Don’t be surprised if Matthews makes a strong case for Rookie of the Year in 2014! It wouldn’t be shocking if the guy pulled in 55-60 receptions for 900-1000 yards and 6-7 scores as a rookie. The rookie receiver position is changing, and these guys are maturing much faster than they use to.
