Spotlight: DeMarco Murray

2015 fantasy football player spotlights

DeMarco Murray (RB/DAL)

2/15/2015: This one is easy. You either doubt DeMarco Murray entering this upcoming season, especially given his monster 2014 workload (and given he could be elsewhere in 2015)… or, you believe he was the reason that Cowboys rushing attack thrived in 2015, thus you believe he will thrive in 2015 no matter what. There aren’t very many people in between on this topic, and that’s often Read Spotlight

ARTICLE: Crazy-Early 2015 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Dynasty)

Hey Starters Nation:

Looking for an early 2015 Fantasy Football Mock Draft / Rankings heading into 2015? This is a dynasty mock draft, so keep in mind that players like Marshawn Lynch, Peyton Manning, Matt Forte, among others, are going to fall much, much further than they would in a early 2015 fantasy football yearly-league mock draft, but this mock draft should be rather useful to all fantasy leaguers, as for the most part things in redraft and dynasty can often times line-up rather well entering January. On that note, enjoy!

ARTICLE: Who are the top 20 Dynasty Fantasy Football Players for 2015?

Are you a dynasty fantasy football nut in need of some 2015 fantasy football content? Well, here is a writeup on the Top 20 Fantasy Football Dynasty Players heading into 2015 and beyond. Note, this is not a fantasy football mock draft, it is more of a value-based board, meaning you will find Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck a lot higher than you’d want to draft them, which ultimately means that I’m suggesting that their values are fantastic when faced off against their early 2015 Average Draft Positions (ADPs). So, again, this is NOT a mock draft, but in many cases will mirror where mocks have some of the players going in early mocks. Enjoy.View Top 20 Dynasty Players

NEWS: Odell Beckham Jr. (back) probable for Week 13.

SMITTY: Unless he suffers some kind of injury in warm-ups, or on Saturday, the guys is locked into high-end WR2 starting line-up slots. He has to be. We might possibly be looking at a fantasy WR1 as early as next year. He is clearly already showing flashes of that right this very moment. Stud! Looking for Week 13 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Rashad Jennings will not play tonight; Andre Williams to start 2 more weeks?

SMITTY: It sounds like the team is just hopeful that Rashad Jennings will return for Week 11, so he could be out longer than expected. This makes Andre Williams an excellent low-end RB2 for at least two more weeks. A-Williams will start against the Colts tonight and he should have a strong outing just as long as the Giants can keep it close for at least a couple quarters. Expect Andrew Luck, TY Hilton, Ahmad Bradshaw, Dwayne Allen and Donte Moncrief to all have strong performances tonight — Luck is always 3TD-capable. Odell Beckham has the most appeal of those Giants WRs this week.

NEWS: Victor Cruz suffers torn patellar tendon in Week 6; Cruz done for the year.

SMITTY: This is awful news. Cruz was in tremendous pain as he was carted to the locker room. This could increase the values of Larry Donnell, Rueben Randle and even Odell Beckham. Although, this clearly isn’t a good thing for Eli Manning or that struggling Giants offense. Be sure you’re hooked up with Smart Alerts for updates on other players this coming week, not to mention we send out our Waiver Wire Recommendations and our Buy-Low/Sell High Candidates out via our Smart Alerts.

NEWS: Victor Cruz could catch 100 passes in 2014?

According to nj.com, Giants WR Victor Cruz is “playing the role of Green Bay’s Randall Cobb and being moved all over the field, 100 receptions is a possibility.”

SMITTY: Eli Manning, who threw 27 interceptions last season, was the problem in 2013, the problem wasn’t Victor Cruz. Cruz went from pulling in 86/1092/10TDs in 2012 to producting 73/998/4TDs in 2013; I think Cruz can easily replicate his 2012 stats if Manning gets back to playing just ‘decent’ football. Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle will play well enough in 2014 to provide Cruz with some space to play that Randall Cobb-type role, which equals tons of receptions! Checkout where Victor Cruz ranks on our Week 1 Power Rankings?

5. Jordan Matthews | PHI WR

Date: 7/24/14

This 2014 rookie receiving class is just flat-out phenomenal, as we are talking about the 4th receiver ranked, and this receiver can be a fantasy WR1 if he develops properly. Jordan Matthews is 6-3, 212 pounds, but he plays like he is 6-5, 225 pounds. He has a long reach and has phenomenal spacial awareness. View this exact play right here to see what I mean… if you watched that play, you should have noticed not only Matthews’ timing pulling in the reception, but his innate ability to use his body to defend the area around the football. It’s an instinct most players don’t develop until their second or third NFL season, but Matthews has a natural instinct to use his body to position the defender where he wants the defender. It’s masterful if you take the time to watch him in acton. Like Brandin Cooks, Matthews couldn’t have landed in a more potent offense. And, in Matthews’ case, the Eagles are in need of a big-time possession receiver, and it appears Chip Kelly is going to immediately lean on the rookie. Don’t be surprised if Matthews makes a strong case for Rookie of the Year in 2014! It wouldn’t be shocking if the guy pulled in 55-60 receptions for 900-1000 yards and 6-7 scores as a rookie. The rookie receiver position is changing, and these guys are maturing much faster than they use to.

NEWS: Victor Cruz continues to want to improve.

According to ESPN, Giants WR Victor Cruz “continued his quest for self-improvement, even after signing a big contract.” The article also talks about how after signing his big extension last year, Cruz reported to training camp and told his coaching staff that he “wanted to work to improve his blocking.”

SMITTY: Victor Cruz has all kinds of bounce-back upside this coming season, to the tune of a potential low-end fantasy WR1. Now, don’t even think about drafting him that high, or trading for him at that value… use ADP data to your advantage, data that indicates Cruz’s average draft slot is right around the middle of the 4th-round, which could be steal-type material at season’s end. While Cruz only pulled in 4TDs and 998 receiving yards last year, that’s on Eli Manning, who threw 27 INTs in 2013. Sure, there is a chance Manning struggles again in 2014, but my guess is we will see much improvement in Eli’s stat lines, which gets Cruz back into his 80/1000+/9-10TD stat lines. Improvement in the passing game is good news for both up-and-coming receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Ruben Randle.
