NEWS: Jerick McKinnon (back) is probable for Week 12.

SMITTY: With Matt Asiata ruled out for Week 12, Jerick McKinnon is set for a nice workload this week. Ben Tate will serve as the back-up rusher in this one. Looking for Week 12 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Adrian Peterson ruling in; AP will remain on exempt list.

SMITTY: Not good for those hoping Adrian Peterson would return to the field this season. Essentially what this means is that Roger Goodell, the league’s commissioner, is now in control of when he can remove Adrian Peterson from the exempt list, and even if Adrian Peterson wins his appeal, as the league suspended the runner for the remainder of the season already, Goodell has the power here. While anything can happen, so we will stay on this over the next week, it’s time to let go of the idea of AP playing in 2014. The values of both Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata both go up for the remainder of this season. Looking for Week 12 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Adrian Peterson will know by Nov. 22nd if he can play.

SMITTY: It sounds like per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, a hearing on an expedited grievance must happen within seven days of filing, which irons out to Nov. 22nd in terms of when a resolution is required. He is a must-hold right now, of course, as he would be an instant top 5RB if reinstated to play. A return would destroy the values of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata. Stay tuned. NEWS: Adrian Peterson to be reinstated quickly by Roger Goodell after accepting his plea agreement?

SMITTY: Here are the facts, other than the fact that this will be a touchy subject, as many will refuse to even add him out of principal. Here are the facts, though… 1) Adrian Peterson was never suspended, he has been on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, meaning only Roger Goodell can reinstate the rusher. 2) He has received over $5 million over his 8-missed games, so he has still been getting paid. 3) There is a good chance that he will be handed a suspension due to accepting a plea, however, Goodell can consider his missed time as ‘time served’ and reinstate Peterson as soon as next week. 4) The Vikings appear more open to the idea of his return than originally though. Everything is speculation at this point, folks, but this news makes Adrian Peterson a must-add right now (as many dropped the rusher earlier this year). Looking for Week 10 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Adrian Peterson could be arrested?

SMITTY: It looks like Peterson is facing possible arrest for violating the terms of his bond “due to an admission that he smoked marijuana.” He reportedly told a court employee that he “smoked a little weed” before providing a sample on Wednesday, and “prosecutors have requested that Peterson’s bond be rescinded, and that he be arrested.” Wow is all we can say. The running back has a trial in December.

NEWS: Teddy Bridgewater availability to be decided game-time; Eddie Lacy to lose carries or thrive?

SMITTY: It sounds like Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) wants to play and the Vikes will just play it safe right up until about 90 minutes before kickoff. Anything can happen in warm-ups, so be sure to stay all over our news and Smart Alerts, but our early guess is that Bridgewater will make a strong push to get onto the field tonight against the Packers. If the QB can’t play, the team will try to run the ball a ton, but if the game gets out of hand, that plan could collapse by the second quarter. Jarius Wright is a much better play with Bridgewater in the line-up, as proven by his monster Week 4 under Bridgewater’s command. As for Eddie Lacy, one report (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) is suggesting we could see more James Starks tonight in Week 5. Sure, this could be the case, but the Pack could also get out to an early lead, in which we’d also expect to see a lot of Starks. Lacy is a boom or bust player at this point; he is the definition of a boom or bust buy-low candidate. If he continues to struggle, he could turn into one of the bigger busts of 2014. If he bounces back, those that bought low could win leagues. This week could determine a lot for Lacy owners, good or bad. The same could be said for Cordarrelle Patterson, who we have pegged as a great buy-low this week. That said, it’s entirely possible his breakout season doesn’t unfold until next year, which is why it’s a boom or bust move to buy-low on CP right now. However, if you truly buy-low, risk is minimized, so be certain to offer the right deals (use our Trade Analyzer!). Looking for Week 5 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) held out of Tuesday practice?

SMITTY: It’s a short week for Bridgewater and the Vikes, as they face off against the Packers this Thursday night. Wednesday’s walkthrough will be telling, but this could be a game-time/warm-up type of call. Without Bridgewater, though, you have to think that the Packers will get out to an early lead, which won’t be good for Matt Asiata or Jerick McKinnon. It also downgrades Jarius Wright and Cordarrelle Patterson quite a bit if Christian Ponder is in the line-up instead of the talented rising star. Stay tuned! Looking for Week 5 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Adrian Peterson (out indefinitely); Vikings intended to bring him back once legal case is resolved?

SMITTY: While it’s entirely possible that never plays in the NFL again, keep in mind that he is a first-time offender and his court hearing is October 8th. We can only speculate at this point what will happen, but as we posted early this morning when we broke the news on Peterson being placed on the NFL’s exempt/commissioner’s permission list, the window for trading Peterson away is closed. That window was open for just a short period of time, as Peterson looked likely to play Week 3, and we were pushing for owners to test those trade waters fast. Looking for how this affects our Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Adrian Peteson has been placed on the Exempt/Commissioners Permission List.

SMITTY: And there you have it, the window for trading away Adrian Peterson is gone. AP is required to stay away from the team, and there is no mandatory amount of time one can or cannot stay on this list according to the rotoworld report, which also suggested that AP would remain on the list until the legal proceedings were resolved. Matt Asiata is the starter for Week 3 and maybe a lot longer, with Jerick McKinnon likely to get his shot in the coming weeks. Looking for how this shakes up our Week 3 Power Rankings?
