NEWS: Doug Martin is expendable now that Charles Sims (ankle) is back this week?

SMITTY: There is a lot of speculation surrounding this situation. Some sources are reporting that the Bucs’ organization is open to trading Doug Martin due to the fact that Charles Sims (ankle) is back in Week 9. It’s an interesting take considering Tuesday’s trade deadline is approaching, but with Martin not playing well, and given he can’t stay healthy, it is a bit tough imagining a team making a move for him. He is tremendously talented, but health is a real concern. Charles Sims is a must-add this week, as the team is fully expected to give him some work right out of the gate. He could be the starter soon, if not right away, or he could be shoved right into a RBBC with Martin and Bobby Rainey — the situation is still a bit cloudy, so know that. He is a must-add, though, just in case this shapes out like some close to the situation are expecting. Be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts for more info on players like this.

NEWS: Doug Martin to get bulk of carries in Week 4 against PIT?

SMITTY: This is great news, but hopefully the guy can stay healthy looking-forward. Given that Rainey lost two fumbles last week, it’s a reasonably safe bet that Tampa Bay will feed Martin the rock just as long as he can handle it. In an attempt to play things conservative, expect fantasy RB2-type numbers out of Martin for a bit, but know that he is fantasy RB1-capable if healthy and rolling. Looking for Week 4 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Doug Martin and Jamaal Charles return to practice?

SMITTY: Hopefully these two studs make it back onto the field in Week 4. The odds are decent considering both had a shot at playing last week… You have to think that Bobby Rainey fumbled his opportunity away in Week 3, so don’t expect a timeshare Tampa just as long as Doug Martin can stay on the field. Jamaal Charles owners shouldn’t worry about Charles being unseated by anyone talent-wise, but it is possible that the Chiefs play it cautious with Charles this week given how well Davis has been playing… keep tabs on both these situations as we head into Week 4. Looking for Week 4 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Roddy White and Doug Martin both inactive for Week 3; Bobby Rainey a RB1 this week and Harry Douglas a sneaky fantasy WR3?

SMITTY: Bobby Rainey is a fantasy RB1 against a Falcons rushing defense that gives up over 150 rushing yards per game and has surrendered 5TDs through the first two weeks. Get Roddy White out of your line-up, and consider Harry Douglas as a spot play this week if you’re in need. Even if you don’t own White, Douglas is a sneaky start if desperate at your fantasy WR3. Julio Jones owners better get ready for a big Week 3! Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Bobby Rainey expected to start Week 3 tonight; Doug Martin (knee) unlikely to play?

SMITTY: This is huge news for Bobby Rainey owners, as that Falcons defense is giving 150+ rushing yards per game on the ground, and has surrendered 5TDs through the first two weeks. Be sure to check back last-minute to ensure that Martin is sitting, but all indications are that Rainey will hold low-end RB1-type value in Week 3. Make sure Rainey isn’t available on your waiver wire still! Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Doug Martin would have practiced today had the Bucs held a practice?

According to reports, Bucs coach Lovie Smith suggested that if the Bucs held a practice on Monday, Doug Martin (knee) would have participated.

SMITTY: This is solid news for Martin owners, although, even if he can go on Thursday night, Martin might not be in for a full workload. It obviously hurts Bobby Rainey’s upside if Martin plays, so keep tabs on this one, as that Falcons match-up is gold for whomever starts (and if they get starter carries). Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Doug Martin (knee) not seriously hurt?

According to reports, Bucs RB Doug Martin (knee) is not considered seriously hurt.

SMITTY: His knee/leg injury is actually being called “minor” and it’s said that he could have gone back in to the game in Week 1 if he had to. This is great news for those fearing the worst here, but be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts so that you get alerted immediately should anything change. We are still a bit cautious with Martin’s Week 2 projections, but he remains a risky low-end RB1 heading into Weeks 2-16.

NEWS: RB Doug Martin did not finish Week 1.

According to reports, Bucs RB Doug Martin rushed just 9 times for 9 yards and pulled in 1 pass for 7 yards in Week 1; he exited the game with a knee injury.

SMITTY: We will keep you posted once we know more, but this isn’t a good thing. Martin didn’t want to speak to the injury until he found out more, so it’s time to get a tad bit worried at least. For more on this, and what to do if you’re a Doug Martin owner, be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts.
