NEWS: Jimmy Graham and DeAngelo Williams both active for Thursday Night Week 9

SMITTY: While he isn’t quite full strength, he scored a touchdown last week, so Jimmy Graham is a must-start unless he suffers some sort of last-second setback. Expect a lot of Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks (who should get more consistent moving forward) and Mark Ingram, who now has high-end RB2 appeal. DeAngelo Williams is set to start tonight’s battle against the Saints, but Jonathan Stewart could see just as much work. This feels like a total sharing situation. Panthers WR Philly Brown and running backs Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas are all inactive. Looking for Week 9 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Cam Newton could sit Week 1?

According to reports, there is a chance Panthers QB Cam Newton (ribs) could miss week 1 (Sunday).

SMITTY: Most of the reports have Cam Newton casting some serious doubt on his ability to be full-go, but also that he could be ‘on pace’ to play. We will have to wait and see on this one, and if you own him, be certain to check back just before kickoff. Derek Anderson would get the go if Newt sat, and Anderson is not a recommended option let alone add. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Cam Newton should be ready for week one.

According to reports, Panthers coach Ron Rivera remains optimistic that QB Cam Newton (ribs) will be ready for Week 1 (Sunday).

SMITTY: We will certainly let you know if anything changes, but we fully expect him to start Week 1, even if he remains super-limited leading into opening day. Newt is a tough QB to rank right now, as he has limited receiving talent outside of Greg Olsen (who should be a lock for 70-80 receptions, 800-900 yards and 6-8TDs). However, with an 8th-round ADP and trade value, it’s hard not to see mostly upside with very little risk. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Cam Newton not practicing, but walking better.

According to Steve Reed on Twitter, Panthers QB Cam Newton (fractured ribs) didn’t practice today, but appeared to be walking better.

SMITTY: His Week 1 availability isn’t in question, but we will let you know if he suffers any kind of setback. Looking for Cam Newton Week 1 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Cam Newton has hairline fracture in ribs.

According to multiple reports, Panthers QB Cam Newton has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his ribs; however, the Panthers are confident that the passer will be able to play in Week 1.

SMITTY: Honestly, with an ADP in the 7.03-7.09 range, there isn’t much risk here with Cam, even if it could limit his rushing ability/production right out of the gate. He is still a great safe QB in that 7th… Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?
