Hey STARTERS Nation:

Of course, we have our Draft Analyzer here at STARTERS, which cranks out custom cheat sheets using an industry-leading predictive algorithm. However, I also provide my personal redraft and dynasty rankings outside of the Analyzer rankings, just to give all you fantasy fanatics another list to look at. Use them all, you can never get enough info to mix together! Below are both the updated dynasty and redraft links!

NOTE: Due to endless requests for it, I have added a tiering system to both sets of rankings!

Training Camp Updates heading into Week 1 of the 2015 Preseason

Ok, Starters Nation, it’s August 13th, 2015, which means it’s time to look at some of the most recent/relevant Training Camp news. Below are a handful of situations that appear to be trending on newswires, and we have tackled each from a fantasy perspective. Enjoy.

Chargers

Melvin Gordon (RB) – Word is that Gordon has been a bit too patient at times during camp, however, it’s way too early to start drawing any kind of negative conclusions about the rusher. Instead, use this info to your advantage and try and draft him a bit after his going 3.05-3.08 ADP. If you can grab him near the early 4th-round range in 2015 drafts, you’re looking at HUGE upside. Dynasty wise, this kid has top 4-10R ceiling.

Stevie Johnson has been making noise in camp, and Philip Rivers could turn to him early and often to start the year, as Antonio Gates starts the beginning part of the season suspended.

Rams

Todd Gurley (RB) – The NFL Network is reporting that the Rams are expecting the rookie to miss the ‘first couple games’ in 2015. Gurley, who is recovering from a torn ACL, has top 1-8 overall dynasty upside, and once he gets going in 2015, he could play that well. His ADP should level out around the 5th- to 6th-round in most redraft formats, but some may reach a bit for Gurley, it just depends on your league. Is a 5th-round pick a reach? No, not necessarily, although, there is some risk (handcuff him to Tre Mason without question!). In dynasty, he is a top 5RB in my view.

Vikings

Adrian Peterson (RB) – The stud is suffering from a ‘minor’ thigh injury… Read More

NEWS: Stevie Johnson the WR3 front-runner; Kaepernick to take next step?

According to csnbayarea.com, 49ers WR Stevie Johnson “is the front-runner for the No. 3 job” in San Francisco in 2014, but “he will have to clearly win the job due to his scheduled $3.925 million pay for the season.”

SMITTY: Rookie Bruce Ellington is a player to monitor in this WR3 battle. Colin Kaepernick has an underrated group of receivers heading into this upcoming season, of course led by high-end talents Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis and then Anquan Boldin. OC Greg Roman has already hinted that his team should throw more in 2014, and with Kaep scheduled to dance for about 500 and 5TDs on the ground each year, he is starting to shape into an underrated fantasy QB1. TE Vernon Davis could holdout?

According to PFT’s Mike Florio, 49ers TE Vernon Davis has been giving off mixed signals over the last couple of weeks regarding his intentions to report or not report to camp. Florio writes, “Most recently, he created the impression that, if he doesn’t get a new deal, he’ll show up for camp after skipping the offseason program. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that, at the present time, Davis would not be reporting.”

SMITTY: We highly doubt Vernon Davis doesn’t show, as he could get fined $30,000 per day and he could lose some signing bonus cash. What a player says in the final week or so of their ‘attempted’ holdout can’t be take as absolute. Davis should have no problem whatsoever duplicating last year’s reception and yardage totals (52 receptions for 850 yards), although he should fall back down to earth in the touchdown department. Last year Davis pulled in 13TDs, but in the three seasons prior, he pulled in 7, 6 and 5 touchdown passes in those campaigns. With Michael Crabtree back to full-go (he didn’t play until Week 13 last year), and with the addition of Stevie Johnson, double-digit touchdowns for Davis is not a strong bet — Expect 6-8.
