NEWS: Ray Rice diagnosed with shoulder bruise; Bernard Pierce the better back?

According to reports, Ravens RB Ray Rice has been diagnosed with a ‘shoulder bruise’ following Saturday’s preseason contest.

SMITTY: It sounds like he will be fine, especially given he can’t play until Week 3. Ray Rice still has the talent, I’m convinced that last year’s disappointment was more on that Ravens offensive line/offense than it was on Rice, proof by Bernard Pierce also struggling last year, and he is a big-time sleeper of mine in general. The problem for Rice, and Pierce for that matter, is that Baltimore might just use a mixed dosage of both all year long, but big-time performances in Weeks 1 and 2 by Pierce could set a tone heading into Weeks 3-16. The duo remains a high-upside RB2, if you can acquire both at that kind of total price tag. Keep an eye on this rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro – He is just impressive every time he touches the football. He runs with unbelievable power. Looking for Week 1 Power Rankings?
