NEWS: Calvin Johnson (questionable) is not expected to play in Week 8; Reggie Bush (ankle) now doubtful.

SMITTY: We have been hearing this for a while now, so we’re simply passing along the reinforcing info on this one whenever it shows its ugly face. His ankle injury clearly is bad and the logic here is that the team will rest both Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush (ankle) this week since the Lions are on a bye in Week 9 (giving both players two weeks to get healthier). Kick off for this game, in London, is at 9:30 AM ET, so stay close to both this news wire and your Smart Alerts for updates on both players. For now, get ready for a whole lot of Golden Tate and Joique Bell, especially with rookie TE Eric Ebron also set to miss Week 8! Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Jonas Gray could see an increased role in Week 8?

SMITTY: There are a few sources right now talking up Jonas Gray. No one is predicting amazing things, but what we are hearing is that he is considered the big back on that roster, which could spell goal line work. It could turn into more, it could be nothing. Basically, if you count on Gray this week for whatever reason, realize that using him is the definition of high-risk/reward. Shane Vereen should have a big Week 8, as he is the most dynamic rusher on that New England roster, but stranger things have happened in New England at the position. As for Vereen, he is probable after battling an illness this week — expect him to play unless you soon hear otherwise. Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Jimmy Graham (questionable) likely to play Week 8; Khiry Robinson ruled out?

SMITTY: Most all reports/sources are predicting that he plays, and despite playing last week and pulling in zero passes, fantasy owners almost have to start Jimmy Graham if he is playing. Even if used in red zone situations, the guy can score 2TDs in such a role. Check out where we have Jimmy Graham ranked on our Week 8 Power Rankings. As for those Saints rushers, Mark Ingram just got a huge bump (him and Travaris Cadet, who could play the PT role), given that both Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson are both out for this one.

NEWS: Manning tosses 3TDS to E-Sanders on Thursday; Keenan Allen pulls in 9-73-1TD in Week 8.

SMITTY: Peyton Manning exploded as expected in Week 8 on Thursday night, throwing for 286 yards, 3TDs and 0INTs; All 3TDs were to Emmanuel Sanders, who pulled in 120 yards on 9 receptions. Demaryius Thomas pulled in 8 passes for 105 yards, while Ronnie Hillman ran for 109 yards and pulled in 3 passes for 29 yards (which will very likely now have Montee Ball walking into a RBBC upon his return to the field). Julius Thomas pulled in just 2-of-6 targets for 26 yards. Philip Rivers threw for 252, 3TDs and 2INTS, with 9 receptions for 73 yards and one of those scores going to Keenan Allen. Antonio Gates pulled in 5 balls for 54 yards and 2TDs, while Branden Oliver ran just 13 times for 36 yards (and pulled in 7 passes for 27 yards). So, what’s the major takeaway from this game? Buy-low on both Julius Thomas and Branden OliverThomas has been in a major slump as of late, but the bottom line is that he has 9TDs through Week 8. Buy-low! And, as for Oliver, the dude pulled in 7 receptions and the Chargers were getting killed… he is clearly getting work, so he is a great player to try and acquire from an owner in a panic. Buy-low, though, so that there is little risk! Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Travaris Cadet to be heavily involved in Week 8 passing game?

SMITTY: If you need a RB this week, consider grabbing Travaris Cadet, as many sources expect the rusher to be ‘heavily involved’ in the team’s passing game in Week 8. As Russ Bliss said on his Tuesday Radio Show, he could be used a lot more than people think with Pierre Thomas out for a bit. Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Denard Robinson the future at RB in JAC?

SMITTY: ESPN’s Michael DiRocco is suggesting that the Jaguars may have found their future rusher in Denard Robinson. In the report, the writer also asked the question, can Robinson handle workhorse carries? Honestly, it’s too early to tell if he can be a long-term option, but he is clearly one of this week’s top waiver wire pick-ups and an excellent flex-option moving forward (even with Toby Gerbart looking close to back). Storm Johnson shouldn’t be written off just yet, though, but the momentum is clearly in the corner of D-Robinson.

NEWS: Tre Mason ready to shine; Zac Stacy still a good buy-low despite Mason rising?

SMITTY: Look, it’s Tre Mason time, and no one is more excited than I am. I have been Mason’s biggest supporter since January, and I think he will go nuts moving forward, but now is a time to buy-low on Zac Stacy. This is especially the case for those that own just Mason, as you can lock in both backs, and Stacy won’t even command flex-type value. He isn’t even starting. He is now a back-up, so trade for him at that basement price. Why do I say this now, the moment Mason is getting unleashed? Well, for starters, Stacy is still a very good RB, and the duo makes for one solid option. Two, coach Jeff Fisher just recently said “it’ll be a week-to-week thing” at the running back position, and he even said: “Zac could get 25 carries this week.” Stacy won’t likely sniff double-digit carries let alone five, but the point is, nothing is for sure, especially decisions by coaches, and Stacy has enough appeal to go get at his rock-bottom pricing. All that aside, I can’t wait to see Mason run… don’t screw this up, Fisher! Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Pierre Thomas (shoulder) to miss 2-3 weeks; Ingram and Robinson to see more touches?

SMITTY: It’s tough to say who will benefit more from Pierre Thomas’ absence, but clearly both Khiry Robinson and Mark Ingram will see an uptick in touches with this news. Both runners are boom or bust plays each week, as you just don’t know which will get more run. Plus, it seems like the Saints want to mix in some Travaris Cadet here and there, so the situation is still very cloudy even with Thomas’ injury. If you breakdown last week’s usage, Ingram commanded the early-down work, and Robinson dropped down to three rushes compared to Ingram’s 10. Our guess is that Ingram will benefit most, especially now that he is a week healthier, but anything can happen due to flow of game/hot hands. Looking for Week 8 Power Rankings?

News: 10/19 Justin Forsett could see a ton of work this week given the heavy, heavy winds expected in the Baltimore game.
Take: Justin Forsett is an excellent play in this one given the winds, and we hear the winds are bad… 30mph bad. That makes Joe Flacco and those Ravens WRs iffy plays in this one.

News: 10/19 Lamar Miller (knee) is probable for Week 7.
Take: It’s finally time for the Lamar Miller Show, as Miller will be the feature back in Week 7.

News: 10/19 Branden Oliver faces the Chiefs in Week 7, who rank in the bottom 10 in the league against the run.
Take: Brandin Oliver is our RB start of the week, as he has top 6-10RB upside this week. He should be in all line-ups this week.

News: 10/19 Denard “Shoelace” Robinson is expected to start at running back in Week 7 against the Browns.
Take: If you need a RB this week, this isn’t a bad play. Storm Johnson should still be in the mix, so Robinson should be looked at as a risky play, but he is a starting RB this week, so if in need, he is worth a look.

News: 10/19 Jonathan Stewart (knee) is officially active for Week 7 and is expected to get starter carries.
Take: He is a risky play, as this feels like a total RBBC regardless. However, if in need at the position this week, and if available in your league, he isn’t a horrible option. Talent has never been an issue for Stewart.

News: 10/19 Jake Locker (thumb) is inactive for Week 7.
Take: Charlie Whitehurst will once again get the start. Both Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright are strong fantasy WR3s despite the weekly uncertainty at the QB position.

News: 10/19 Reggie Bush officially active for Week 7.
Take: This was expected, and Matthew Stafford should turn to him early and often this week with Calvin Johnson not likely to play.

News: 10/19 NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Kelvin Benjamin (concussion) has been cleared to play in Week 7.
Take: Great news. He is a fantasy WR3 whenever on the field. Check back just in case on this one, but things look good.

News: 10/19 AJ Green has been ruled out of Week 7.
Take: This was expected; Mohamed Sanu is a strong fantasy WR2 this week – easy.

News: 10/19 Jimmy Graham to play, not start, in Week 7.
Take: As expected, he will likely be a red-zone player in this one, and that makes him a risky play, but you almost have to roll with him unless you have a fantastic alternative. Ben Watson will get some extra run in this one, and Brandin Cooks could have a nice day as well.

News: 10/19 Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer will reportedly use a “hot hand approach” at the running back position in Week 7.
Take: This is an awful match-up anyway against the Seahawks, but this is exactly why we have been recommending that fantasy owners sell-high on Stacy for weeks now. Tre Mason is the most talented runner in that backfield… we had him ranked No. 1 out of all 2014 rookie rushers based on talent alone. Benny Cunningham is still a talented runner, too. This situation is messy, especially in Week 7.

News: 10/19 Andre Johnson (ankle) is probable for Week 7.
Take: He is a fantasy WR2 as long as he is healthy.

News: 10/19 Arian Foster (groin) is probable for Monday night’s Week 7 battle against the Steelers.
Take: He is a fantasy RB1 moving forward. Let’s hope he stays healthy!

News: 10/19 DeAndre Hopkins (hand) is probable for Week 7.
Take: He is a fine fantasy WR3 when on the field.

News: 10/19 Kelvin Benjamin (concussion) is expected to play despite his questionable status.
Take: Be sure to check back before kickoff, but all signs point to Benjamin playing in this contest. He is a fantasy WR3 if starting.

News: 10/19 Bryce Brown is expected to be inactive in Week 7.
Take: Word is that the Bills won’t reduce Spiller’s workload in Week 7 like they did last week. He is a risky play, but you almost have to play him if the Bills are backing his workload. As we reported earlier, selling high is advised if he has a big game in this one.
