NEWS: Jamaal Charles (ankle) returns to practice on Thursday.

SMITTY: According to ESPN reporter Adam Teicher on Twitter: “Jamaal Charles is practicing with chiefs today. An interesting turn of events. Looked OK to me”. This doesn’t sound like a high-ankle sprain at all, as Charles was reportedly seen cutting through cones. While it is looking more and more like Charles could suit up for Week 3, be sure to sign up for our Smart Alerts so that you have real-time updates on this. As soon as we get confirmation that Charles is in fact playing Week 3, we will immediately adjust our Week 3 Power Rankings.

NEWS: Bobby Rainey expected to start Week 3 tonight; Doug Martin (knee) unlikely to play?

SMITTY: This is huge news for Bobby Rainey owners, as that Falcons defense is giving 150+ rushing yards per game on the ground, and has surrendered 5TDs through the first two weeks. Be sure to check back last-minute to ensure that Martin is sitting, but all indications are that Rainey will hold low-end RB1-type value in Week 3. Make sure Rainey isn’t available on your waiver wire still! Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Marshawn Lynch (back) did not practice on Wednesday.

SMITTY: We have said this a thousand different ways and will continue to say it… Marshawn Lynch is a top 5-10RB when he is on the field, and he might very well start all 16 games this season. That said, he is one of the most aggressive rushers in the league, abusing his body on every carry more so than any other runner in the league. If he goes down, Robert Turbin could be called upon first, that won’t be a huge surprise, but both he and Christine Michael (top 5-10RB-capable if starting) should be owned by even non-Lynch owners in all larger leagues. If you own Lynch, you have to own these guys, or at least one. As for Week 3, we haven’t heard anything that suggests that Lynch’s back is going to keep him out of Week 3, but keep an eye on this, and sign up for our Smart Alerts in case this situation changes. NEWS: Eric Decker looking likely to play in Week 3?

SMITTY: Despite the hamstring issue, it looks like Eric Decker is on pace to play during Monday night’s Week 1 battle against the Bears. The problem here is that the game is on Monday night, so you may have to make a decision on Sunday. This is when our Smart Alerts come in handy, as well as our Week 3 Power Rankings, as our rankings might have one of your bench guys scoring more than Decker anyway. The Bears are currently 10th against the pass through two weeks, so this isn’t a great match-up for Geno Smith and Decker, but as always, anything can happen on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, and really it boils down to your alternatives, which is why our Forums are so valuable! Get on there and talk about your lineup dilemmas!

NEWS: Jordan Cameron has good shot at playing in Week 3? Ben Tate to sit?

SMITTY: It looks like Jordan Cameron (shoulder) has a decent chance of playing in Week 3 according to Ohio.com. Keep checking back with us on this one, as it could come down to a game-time decision. For that, you’re going to want to be signed up for our Smart Alerts. Ben Tate is not expected to play, meaning Terrance West is going to get starter carries. Will he do well against that 8th-ranked Ravens rushing defense that has yet to allow a rushing touchdown? Find out what we have dialed into our Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Vernon Davis (ankle) avoids serious injury; he remains questionable for Week 3.

SMITTY: UPDATE:The tight end did not practice today and is still on crutches – he is now very unlikely to play in Week 3, but stay tuned for more.

SMITTY: This is another ‘questionable’ type situation, meaning we give Davis a 50/50 shot at playing Week 3. Derek Carrier would likely step-up if Davis sits. Stay tuned. Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings so that you can find a potential alternative?

NEWS: Lamar Miller time now that Knowshon Moreno is out 4-8 Weeks?

SMITTY: This is a great opportunity for a runner that failed so many of us last season. Hopefully Lamar Miller stays healthy, as he has sneaky-good RB2 upside now that he is expected to see starter carries. Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Carson Palmer could miss a day or an entire month?

SMITTY: This is a ‘nerve’ issue, and coach Bruce Arians is being extremely vague giving us the 1 day or 1 month timetable. Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald owners better hope Palmer gets back into that line-up soon, as each could drop a tier value-wise with Drew Stanton under center. As for Andre Ellington, it’s tough to predict if not having Palmer under center is going to lead to more fantasy scoring or not. He could be focused on more, or the Cards could be passing in 4th-quarters… or, they could lean on the guy. Stay tuned. Looking for Week 3 Power Rankings?

NEWS: Doug Martin would have practiced today had the Bucs held a practice?

According to reports, Bucs coach Lovie Smith suggested that if the Bucs held a practice on Monday, Doug Martin (knee) would have participated.

SMITTY: This is solid news for Martin owners, although, even if he can go on Thursday night, Martin might not be in for a full workload. It obviously hurts Bobby Rainey’s upside if Martin plays, so keep tabs on this one, as that Falcons match-up is gold for whomever starts (and if they get starter carries). NEWS: Jamaal Charles has high ankle sprain, but not a real severe one?

BJ Kissel, on Twitter, writes this from Chiefs coach Andy Reid on Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle): “It doesn’t look to be a real severe one, but it does have the component of a high ankle sprain.”

SMITTY: These can be multiple week type injuries, regardless. Knile Davis is this week’s top waiver wire grab, as he could total 100 yards and a TD with ease if given starter carries. Be sure to sign-up for our Smart Alerts, as we may have more real-time updates on Charles and his Week 3 status. As of now, it’s hard to imagine him playing in Week 3, let alone Weeks 3-5. With a Week 6 bye for the Chiefs, I could easily see the team holding him out through the bye. That could change in either direction, so stay tuned!
